RADIATION PROTECTION ADVISER (RPA)
MEDICAL PHYSICS EXPERT (MPE)
If you use x-ray machines you will need not only an RPA but an MPE.
In common with most providers, our contracts cover both these services.

LASER PROTECTION ADVISER (LPA)
If your practice uses lasers, the Control of Artificial Optical Radiation at Work Regulations 2010 requires you to have made a 'suitable and sufficient risk assessment' and have appropriate working procedures (Local Rules).
The MHRA 'Guidance for the Safe Use of Lasers, Intense Pulse Light Systems and LEDs in Medical, Surgical, Dental & Aestheic Practices' strongly suggests that dental laser users should have consulted and appointed an LPA.
CQC have now clarified that they require the appointment of an LPA in England. It is also required in Scotland and Wales.
